But what was intended to be a straightforward excursion soon starts to strain his existential limits.
Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio (2022)
Nobody specifically requested a new Pinocchio movie, but Guillermo del Toro would be an intriguing option if one were to be made.
He receives from him. This whimsical, stop-motion musical reframes Carlo Collodi’s well-known story against the rise of Mussolini in Italy.
It tells the well-known story of the grieving woodcarver Geppetto (Ewan McGregor) building a wooden puppet boy but weaves in unexpected emotional and political stakes that give new life to a tale that was in danger of becoming stale.
Emily the Criminal (2022)
How can a college graduate become a career felon? For Emily (Aubrey Plaza), it all begins with a criminal record that keeps her out of the workforce and prevents her from making college loan payments.
She accepts a job as a “dummy shopper,” using middleman Youcef’s provided stolen credit cards to purchase items out of desperation (Theo Rossi).
Emily finds herself pulled more and more to her tutor, Youcef, and the rich, exciting lifestyle of black-market commerce as she keeps being shut down by legitimate businesses. Together, the two step up their illicit activity.
21 Jump Street (2012)
Schmidt (Jonah Hill) was a loser in high school, while Jenko (Channing Tatum) was the dominant figure on campus.
Following graduation, they coupled up on a bicycle beat in the city park when they both joined the police department.
However, since they can still pass as students, the young guys are asked to go undercover when a violent drug network infiltrates a nearby high school.
Despite the fact that it has only been a short while, neither guy is ready for the pressure and worry that come with being a teenager once again. especially if they also have to be police officers.

Mack & Rita (2022)

Insomnia (2002)
On December 16, Hulu introduced a number of Christopher Nolan masterpieces, and we are representing them with this neglected criminal thriller.
Insomnia follows seasoned LAPD detective Will Dormer (Al Pacino) as he and his colleague Hap visit a tiny Alaskan village to look into the deliberate, unsettling murder of a local youngster.

The Night House (2021)
Beth (Rebecca Hall) retires to the lakeside house her husband constructed for her after his untimely death, doing her best to be composed and mourn her loss.
However, as unsettling images of a presence in the home start to draw her, Beth goes down a rabbit hole and starts looking through her husband’s possessions in an effort to figure out why she is being tortured.
Darby and the Dead (2022)
Darby Harper (Riele Down) had a near-death experience as a youngster, which endowed her with the unique capacity to perceive ghosts.
She thus starts a side business advising local spirits since high school is uninteresting and existentially taxing.
However, after an unexpected encounter with Capri (Auli’i Cravalho), the popular girl, Darby realises that she is as as helpful to the living as she is to the dead. Thankfully, she could have used the lifeline.
Fruitvale Station (2013)
Fruitvale Station, written and directed by Ryan Coogler (Black Panther), depicts the actual tale of Oscar Grant, a 22-year-old Oakland, California, native, on the last day of his life.
It’s a harrowing investigation of being Black in America, a captivating slice-of-life story that follows Oscar as he encounters friends, family, foes, and strangers until eventually meeting his death at the hands of police officers on New Year’s Day in 2009.

Nanny (2022)
The dramatic horror film that won Sundance’s U.S. Grand Jury Prize (Dramatic) was acquired by Amazon and made available as an Amazon Original.
Senegalese immigrant Aisha (Anna Diop) is hired as the daughter’s nanny by a wealthy New York City couple (Michelle Monaghan, Morgan Spector). Aisha left her small kid behind in Senegal and is relying on the job to pay for his travel expenses to the United States.
But as the family’s chaotic home life becomes more unsettling, Aisha starts having nightmares.
The little piece of the American ideal she is attempting to wrangle for her own family is threatened as her son’s birth draws closer and the dreams and reality start to blend together.
Something from Tiffany’s (2022)
Something from Tiffany’s, a brand-new Amazon Original for the holiday season, recounts the tale of what transpires when an unique package from Tiffany’s upends numerous lives in New York City.
Although Rachel and Gary (Zoey Deutch and Ray Nicholson) are happy together, they are not yet prepared to be married.
On the other side, Ethan and Vanessa (Kendrick Sampson and Shay Mitchell) are in a relationship that is wonderful and set to progress.
But when a present mix-up brings all of their paths together, it starts a series of events that leads them to realise their current circumstances may not be as they seem.
La La Land (2016)
La La Land, which had an amazing 14 Oscar nominations, eventually took home six, including Best Director for Damien Chazelle.
The film, which pays tribute to Los Angeles and the entertainment business, centres on jazz musician Sebastian (Ryan Gosling), who makes a meagre living by playing gigs at dive bars, and aspiring actress Mia (Emma Stone), who serves lattes to movie stars as she waits for her audition.
As each begins to realise their aspirations, success begins to rip at the fabric of their relationship. The two bond through their commitment to the grind and the integrity of their trade.
Capote (2005)
For his performance as renowned novelist Truman Capote in this biopic, Philip Seymour Hoffman received the Best Actor Oscar.
Capote hears about the Kansas family’s murder in 1959 and gets obsessed with the case. Capote establishes a friendship with one of the murderers serving a death sentence, Perry Smith, while doing research for what would eventually become his landmark book, In Cold Blood (Clifton Collins Jr.).
Superbad (2007)
Superbad, a classic high school comedy, follows codependent Seth (Jonah Hill) and Evan (Michael Cera) as their senior year of high school draws to a close.
Seth overcommits the lads to providing the booze for Jules’ (Emma Stone) appealing end-of-year party because he fears for their legacy and is counting on Fogle’s (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) new fake ID to function as intended.
It infamously fails, resulting in a horrible, anxious night that casts doubt on Seth and Evan’s relationship and future.
HBO and HBO Max
The Banshees of Inisherin (2022)
a natural continuation of Martin McDonagh’s excellent The Banshees of Inisherin, which is set in Bruges, reunites Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson as friends who are on the verge of breaking up.
Colm (Gleeson) unexpectedly chooses to abandon his old relationship with Padraic on a lonely island off the west coast of Ireland (Farrell).
Padraic, who is shocked, attempts to mend their bond with the aid of his sister Siobhan (Kerry Condon) and a young islander called Dominic (Barry Keoghan). Padraic, who won’t accept “no,” pushes Colm farther into the fray until Colm makes a last-ditch demand. At that point, things become worse.
Amsterdam (2022)
The Wes Anderson paradigm is evident in David O. Russell’s Amsterdam, which has a convoluted and quick-moving storyline, an all-star ensemble, plenty of humour, and subtly serious subject matter.
Amsterdam follows friends Burt Berendsen (Christian Bale), Valerie Voze (Margot Robbie), and Harold Woodman (John David Washington) after they witness the murder of a retired American general.
The film is based on the Business Plot, a political plot from 1933 that aimed to depose Franklin Delano Roosevelt and replace him with the fascist Smedly Butler as ruler.
The three pals are immediately identified as suspects themselves and get quickly entangled in exposing the ridiculous scheme.
You must determine whether it’s worthwhile to see since it was a box business and critical failure, yet David O. Russell is often a lock for the Oscar!
Gone Girl (2014)
The best-selling thriller by Gillian Flynn was adapted by David Fincher, and it was a critical and financial success. Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck), who is celebrating his fifth wedding anniversary, discovers that his wife Amy (Rosamund Pike) has vanished.
Nick’s explanation of what happened and the circumstances surrounding what formerly seemed to be a perfect marriage raise concerns, and the news quickly becomes a media frenzy.
Many are left to wonder whether Nick really murdered Amy and reported her missing as a cover as a result of his persistent falsehoods and odd conduct. Or maybe he isn’t the one in control of the circumstance.
Trumbo (2015)
As one of Hollywood’s hottest commodities, screenwriter Dalton Trumbo (Bryan Cranston) challenges Joseph McCarthy’s anti-communist HUAC committee. As a result, he is blacklisted, ultimately ruining his career.
This film explores Trumbo’s astonishing return to the top by tracing his climb from monarchy to anathema and back again against the background of McCarthyism’s scapegoating of Hollywood.
A Christmas Story Christmas (2022)
Okay, so no one actually asked for a follow-up to the 1983 Christmas hit, but Hollywood won’t let that stop it! Additionally, you may have been a bit eager to watch how tiny Ralphie developed.
You can now! After the demise of his Old Man, Ralphie (Peter Billingsley) returns to the home on Cleveland Street as an adult in an effort to provide his children with the same type of beautiful Christmas memories he had as a child.

Emancipation (2022)
Emancipation, Will Smith’s first film after “the slap,” is based on the actual account of a slave’s perilous trek to freedom.
The movie “Whipped Peter” (Smith) is based on the 1863 photographs of “Whipped Peter,” which were taken during a Union Army medical examination.
It follows Peter as he risks his life to escape bondage and find his family. Peter escapes bounty hunters in the Louisiana marshes by using his cunning and faith to find the people he loves.
Spirited (2022)
In this rather wholesome adaptation of A Christmas Carol, Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell play the lead roles. It turns out that Ebenezer Scrooge was not the last destination for the three ghosts from the famous Dickens narrative.
Every Christmas, they carry out this wicked agony ritual, picking a new person to mercifully haunt on Christmas Eve.
The Ghost of Christmas Present (Ferrell) chose the incorrect Scrooge this year, however. Reynolds’ character, Clint Briggs, turns the tables and has a solution for everything, setting Present on his own existential odyssey through the past, present, and future.
Causeway (2022)
Jennifer Lawrence, a sensation at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), has won plaudits for her portrayal of Lynsey, an American soldier who sustains a traumatic brain injury while serving in Afghanistan.
Lynsey struggles with her illness and adaptation to civilian life as she travels back to her hometown of New Orleans to heal.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules (2022)
The second instalment in Disney’s revival of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series follows the beginning of a new school year for angst-ridden middle schooler Greg Heffley (Brady Noon).
However, Greg is finding it very difficult to concentrate on his studies and his personal life due to the torture of his slacker, disorganised rocker brother, Rodrick (Hunter Dillon), who is in high school.
Will they ever develop a rapport?
Disenchanted (2022)
Giselle (Amy Adams) has lost interest in the city 15 years after settling in the “real world” and marrying Robert (Patrick Dempsey) in Enchanted.
They go to Monroeville, a suburb, in search of a somewhat more idyllic existence, only to discover that there are entirely other regulations in Suburbia.
Malvina Monroe (Maya Rudolph), who plays the queen bee in this scene, is not too keen on the wacky Giselle finding happiness in this upstanding neighbourhood.
In an effort to find some calm, Giselle turns to magic; but, much to her family’s dismay, she unintentionally transforms the whole town into a real-life fairy tale.
Giselle must work quickly to break the enchantment and determine what her happily ever after really entails, despite the fact that she likes some of the new adjustments.
Hocus Pocus 2 (2022)
The spooky season is here! The Sanderson Sisters (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy), Salem witches of the 17th century, have returned 29 years after the Black Flame Candle brought them back to life, seeking vengeance on the town and those who condemned them.
It’s up to a bunch of teens to foil the nefarious scheme before All Hallow’s Eve dawn when a fresh scheme to wreck havoc in Salem is revealed.
