The unsettling series, which is based on the podcast of the same name, combines horrors from discovered film with a plot that becomes tense with each new episode.
Firefly Lane (2021)
The principal actors in Firefly Lane are Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke, who play longtime friends Tully Hart and Kate Mularkey, respectively.
The two have been at one other’s sides through all of life’s major turning points. The story follows their relationship from their early years to the present, when Tully is a very popular TV talk show personality and Kate is a divorced housewife trying to start over.
Of course, lessons about love, life, and friendship follow. On December 2, a fresh set of episodes debuted.
1899 (2022)
This Dark-inspired television series centres on immigrant passengers on a ship bound for a new continent who get embroiled in a mystery when they come with a second ship drifting aimlessly at sea.
The series is unlike any other thriller because of its ominous, eerie tone and bilingual approach.
Pepsi, Where’s My Jet? (2022)
Pepsi, Where’s My Aircraft? is a four-part documentary series that delves into the very real life of John Leonard, the guy who found a flaw in a Pepsi advertisement from the 1990s that promised a Harrier jet to anybody who gathered enough points from Coke bottles.
When Pepsi refuses to comply with John’s request, a battle between David and Goliath ensues, permanently altering the landscape of advertising.

Wednesday (2022)
In this Addams Family spinoff that focuses on the eldest Addams sibling, Tim Burton turns his attention to Wednesday Addams.
The eponymous character, played by Jenna Ortega, is sent to prep school as a result of an incident involving a high school water polo team and two bags of piranhas.
She eventually gets involved in a string of local killings as a student at the school, all the while attempting to come to grips with her own fate and her parents’ history.
Age of Samurai: Battle for Japan (2021)
The six-part series does a masterful job of examining the political drama and intrigue of the Sengoku period, one of the most turbulent periods in the history of feudal Japan.
However, at times this documentary about the warring clans of 16th-century Japan feels more like an edgy action film than a traditional documentary.
The series uses a combination of historical (and graphic) reenactments and expert commentary to follow the rise (and, frequently, violent fall) of several important historical figures whose paths shaped the country during a time when samurai, warlords, and powerful families were engaged in a nearly constant civil war.
History courses with this much depth have seldom been this engaging or intense.
Maya and the Three (2021)
The creator of this nine-episode animated series, Jorge R. Gutiérrez, compared it to a Mexican adaptation of Lord of the Rings, and the comparison isn’t too far off.
The show takes place in a Mesoamerican world that predates colonisation, complete with all the gods and heroes that were present in the native civilizations’ mythologies at the time.
It centres on a 15-year-old girl who sets out on a quest to locate the three warriors who have been foretold to aid her in overcoming the underworld deities endangering mankind and saving the earth.
Maya and the Three is an epic journey that the whole family will love, filled with distinctive, gorgeous animation and colourful characters you can’t help but root for (or against).
Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities (2022)
This selection of short films by some of the most inventive, imaginative filmmakers, and writers in the horror genre was put together by Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro.
The eight tales in the first season of the show come from a variety of directors, such as Del Toro himself, Vincenzo Natali (Cube), Ana Lily Amirpour (A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night), and Jennifer Kent (The Babadook).
28 Days Haunted (2022)
This television series follows three paranormal investigative teams as they go to some of America’s most haunted places to investigate the beliefs of Ed and Lorraine Warren, the famed investigators who appeared in the Conjuring movie series.
The teams spend 28 days at the sites. The programme takes a documentary approach to comprehending the paranormal world and the events surrounding some of these locales, which is as interesting as it is unsettling.
Waffles + Mochi (2021)

The Midnight Club (2022)
With The Midnight Club, based on Christopher Pike’s 1994 book of the same name, the author of The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, and Midnight Mass shifts his focus to young-adult horrors.
The 10-episode series centres on a group of youthful, terminally sick hospice patients who congregate every evening to share eerie tales.
The “Midnight Club” members agree that whomever passes away first will attempt to communicate from the afterlife. Be ready for significant scares on this episode with Flanagan in charge.
This Is a Robbery: The World’s Biggest Art Heist (2021)
The greatest art theft of all time that has not been solved was committed on March 18, 1990, when the Boston-area Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum was robbed. There have been no arrests made in connection with the theft, which is believed to have resulted in the loss of artwork valued at more than $500 million.

History of Swear Words (2021)
Whether or whether you actually use them, curse words have become ingrained in our everyday language.

In the comedy series he co-created with Ramy Youssef, comedian Mo Amer plays a Palestinian guy living in Texas who must manage three languages, two radically different cultures, and an ongoing asylum application that would eventually lead him and his family to U.S. citizenship.
The Sandman (2022)
Tom Sturridge plays Morpheus, the ruler of the dream realm, in this adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s renowned comic book series.
Morpheus is inadvertently imprisoned by a cruel occult dabbler, which sets off a story that spans many generations and several worlds and eventually endangers humanity’s destiny.
The Sandman, a project that has been in production for more than two decades, was once considered to be impossible to adapt correctly, yet the series somehow manages to weave together the captivating tales and impactful concepts of Gaiman’s well-known fantasy narrative.
Midnight Mass (2021)
This narrative is set on a tiny island where the entrance of a mysterious priest and the return of a problematic former inhabitant coincide with a sequence of miraculous happenings that may or may not be what they appear.
Writer and filmmaker Mike Flanagan offers another disturbing limited series to Netflix. While The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor, his past Netflix productions, are unrelated to Midnight Mass, many of the actors from those shows as well as some of his earlier, highly acclaimed thrillers return.
But what really stands out is actor Hamish Linklater’s depiction of the mysterious Father Paul. His performance sells the seven-part story’s examination of religion, death, and redemption.
Centaurworld (2021)
You may not even be aware that you need a great pick-me-up right now, but Megan Nicole Dong’s very creative cartoon series is just what you need.
The programme centres on a valiant warhorse that is suddenly taken to a vibrant, colourful world full of magical animals who are all in some manner hybrids of other species, each with their own unique traits and special skills.
She has to learn to cooperate with a colourful herd of misfits in order to rescue both their worlds while navigating a world full of serious and humorous perils in order to return home to her loving rider.
The series, which is upbeat, welcoming, and engaging, also has a strong voice cast and several Broadway-style musical numbers that add to the epic journey.
Lupin (2021)
An interesting new take on Maurice Leblanc’s renowned gentleman thief Arsène Lupin is found in the French television series Lupin.
In an ingenious twist, the Lupin tales really take place in the world of this programme, and they motivate a guy by the name of Assane Diop (Omar Sy) to take on the Lupin identity as his own in order to get revenge on his falsely convicted father.
Assane is undoubtedly a superb thief, but he finds that exacting retribution is far riskier and more difficult than he had thought.
Heartstopper (2022)
In this film version of Alice Oseman’s webcomic and graphic book series, two very different adolescents start to suspect their unexpected relationship could be more.
In this well-known coming-of-age series set in a British grammar school, Joe Locke and Kit Connor play anxious Charlie and rugby star Nick, respectively.
Arcane (2021)
This highly acclaimed adult animated series is set in a steampunk universe where magic and technology affect the simmering relationship between a utopian metropolis and the oppressed city in its shadow.
You don’t need to be familiar with the League of Legends video game brand to appreciate it. Arcane, set to a rousing, impactful tune, follows a pair of sisters whose sad upbringing places them on opposing sides of the impending battle.
It is full of exquisite animation and interesting characters. Once you start watching the first season, it’s hard not to finish everything in one sitting, which is perhaps why Netflix approved a second season that will air somewhere in 2023.
